Frigidaire FAD504TDD

This dehumidifier is an excellent value. All dehumidifiers make a little noise. They are small air conditioning units in a way, and they have a blower to circulate the air. Since those are confined to a small space, and move a bit of air, and have a compressor, you will hear some noise. And simply by the nature of carrying 6.25 gallons of water in a tank to empty it, it will be a bit awkward. But neither of these things keep me from rating this with 5-stars. It does its job very well, is rather quiet, and thanks to an ingenious tank slide-out, and carry handle, emptying the tank is a piece of cake. And boy, does this thing dehumidify! First two days it sucked a total of 6 tankfuls of water out of our basement air. That’s over 36 gallons of water. Lowered the humidity from almost 70% to just over 50%, that’s on continuous run. Now we’ve got it set to 60% and we’ll see how that works. Love this frigidaire fad504tdd unit. Hadn’t bought a dehumidifier in over 20 years, so was skeptical that with today’s cheap manufacturing standards, we would have a hard time finding a decent unit. Not so. This Frigidaire deserves the exceptional ratings it has received to date, and we are completely satisfied with our purchase.

This frigidaire fad704tdp dehumidifier really pulls a lot of water from the air very quickly. In the Illinois summer humidity it fills twice a day (when we have the air conditioning off). When full, the unit shuts off, a light goes on, and the bucket is very easy to remove and empty when you notice it is off. The filter light comes on after about 2 weeks as a reminder, and the filter slides right out with a little tug. Cleaning it only takes a minute. It kicks out some heat, but, because it lowers the humidity, the room feels more comfortable anyway. The built in hygrometer seems to be accurate because I have another one I checked it against. I’ve only had this for a month, so I can’t comment yet on its longevity, but I will edit the review when I’ve had it for awhile. I shopped around, and the price on Amazon was by far the best. With the Amazon prime trial it arrived in 2 days, no shipping charge.

This machine is fantastic. Is very efficient, silent, does not vibrate, excellent readouts on the display and pulls a lot of water from the air (I live in Florida, you can swim in this air). It does not include a pump, but it has a connection to put a regular garden hose out to an external pump (Which you buy separate, they are very cheap). Since the pump will probably die sooner than the main unit, I will just buy a new pump at that time. Now, if you will put that pump out of view (as I did, in the AC closet), put also a water alarm: when the pump dies, you will know and turn off the dehumidifier, not to flood the neighbors. I got it all at Amazon and it works fantastic.

Love the unit especially the timer, energy saver and the remote control. This product works very well and is very energy efficient. One of the best decisions I made was to get rid of my 20 year old unit which would dim the power when the compressor kicked on and buy this air conditioner.
I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a small window unit. We have had four in the past and this by far has been the best. Thanks Frigidaire and Amazon for keeping us cool and comfy in 100+ temps!

The 5 stars is out of fairness to a kit that has not been used yet; I’ll edit later, as deserving. It just arrived and I’ve been looking for drill bits since then. I see all the glowing reviews and only a couple of mentions that you have to use hex shank drill bits. I only read a dozen reviews before ordering, practically salivating over the great reviews. I did not realize the drill would also be a hex drive and that there’s a truly limited drill bit selection on the market. The quality of most two-piece bits has been called into question on reviews of those bits. I am considering buying the adapt-a-drive keyed chuck (by Jacobs) so I can use the vast array of round bits already on hand and I did buy a set of Ryobi TiN coated bits with hex drives to try (hmmm????). I have gobs of driver stuff on hand and found that most sets only provide 5 or 6 drill bits with 30 pcs of redundant driver parts. I’d love to know how others are getting so much happy drilling done?? Thanks for any advice/input on the real business end of the work, now that we all know the units are GREAT.These two little Makita’s are super! I have had this set for over 2 years and they get the most use (home improvement business). I also have the big brother Makita’s 18volt lith. I keep going to these two in most of my jobs because they are small , light and very powerful. The batteries last a long time and recharge quickly. Again, Makita has a true winner here.
I did not buy this from Amazon. I bought it on sale from William Sonoma for $99. I had to drive out of state to buy a display model to get it. Having owned it for two weeks, knowing what I know. I would have paid double for this, if I had to. In two weeks, I made about 12 batches of gelato and all of them were great. I made gelatos in many different ways… few batches using store bough mix, several following recipes exactly, several deviating from the recipe (reduce sugar) and several I totally made up because I have over ripe bananas or just wanted to experiment. They all turned out great. Recipes are very forgiving. It is not like baking. Make the mix and if it tastes good, it will make good gelato. My wife said “You rock and you suck at same time” since she is concerned about me turning out gelatos she can’t resist. Her favorite so far is lemon gelato. I seriously doubt stores use freshly grated lemon peel and freshly squeezed lemon juice. For that reason, I think it taste much better than store bought.
Chemical-free cleaning is very important to us, given not only our well-being but also that of our canine family members. While I was impressed with the results of the Shark Electric Steam Mop for over two years, the Eureka Hard-Surface Floor Steamer is much, much better. Other reviewers have done a wonderful job of comparing various models, and I thank them for doing so, because their research helped me make a good purchasing decision. For the purpose of this review, I’ll just note that the Eureka is far quieter (almost silent!), far more efficient (although it produces less visible steam, there is no need to tediously move back and forth over the same area for several minutes before seeing a tremendous difference), and doesn’t require any separate pull-push action to release steam onto the floor. It’s a fabulous product! I am so thrilled with it that I gave away my Shark, as well as my “heavy-duty” tile vacuum, the Hoover FloorMate SpinScrub Wet/Dry Vacuum Cleaner.
I used to use the Black & Decker 18volt cordless lawn tools that used those horrible ni-cad batteries that never lasted more than a year and required holding your breath just right in order for them to charge back to full, and even then, it seems that most after a few times of use would never charge back enough to give full power to the tools (the bush trimmer, after only a few uses was virtually worthless because none of the batteries could charge fully enough to give it enough power to go thru anything). I finally got tired and frustrated with continually low charge and no power to do anything and have been gradually replacing the B&D 18v Ni-Cad yard tools with the Worx line of Li-Ion cordless lawn tools. I’ve had the worx weed whacker since christmas, and I love it – not only does it maintain full battery charge for longer than the old Black & Deckers, but it was much more powerful than the B&D was the first time I used them. With this trimmer, I’ve never run out of battery in the middle of doing the front yard like I used to (so frustrating to have to leave your yard half done while you charge batteries overnight!), and if I ever do run it down, it only takes 30mins. to charge it and get back to work. I’ve never fully it run it down to see, but I think I usually get at least an hours run time out of one battery, which is more than enough. The only drawback to the Worx weed whacker is the small spools – sure you can order 6 spools for $6 from Worx online, but it runs thru them very quickly because they are very small spools that don’t hold a lot of string – but this is an annoyance I can live with – I estimate I am using about one spool every 2-3 weeks in the summer. I also like the fact that the Worx tools are much smaller and streamlined than the B&D tools, not just the battery, but the motor housing is smaller too – not a bunch of unnecessarily large plastic housing, but the weed whacker handle still extends out to a comfortable length for taller people. I guess B&D makes their lawn tools look big and bulky so the men will feel manly when they use them, but I’m a petite woman, and I appreciate that Worx doesn’t make their tools any larger than they need to be, while still functioning perfectly and having plenty of power. So for anyone out there still struggling with crappy NI-Cad yard tools and perpetually low batteries – get the Worx Li-ion tools – you won’t regret it.
Just recently returned to the IT/networking field after a six and a half year break from it….Although I did do some IT/networking work here and there….I wanted one of these along with a cable tester for a long time, finally broke down and purchased one for my new job that is all mine….
